Why practice archery?

It is a difficult fact to accept that Filipinos will not succeed in sports that require height or speed. Athletes from other countries have a  genetic advantage that provides them with a greater chance in winning a basketball or football game. Archery is a sport that requires no height limit. You can be tall or short and you can still be considered as a strong opponent. You don't need to run. You don't need to have a muscular build. All you need is the determination and dedication, the confidence and will to compete, and you will be guaranteed a victory. Filipinos are known for having those traits. Archery is one of our greatest chances of bringing honor to the country.

The best thing about archery is that it's such an unconventional, ancient sport. It is, in fact, one of the oldest practices the human race has ever created, dating even eariler than Roman Gladiators and Javelin throwing. It's this authenticity that provides an athlete the best kind of motivation to shoot. You know that your great, great, great, grand-somethings shot a bow and now you're following in that path. The archery world is such a small place so you immediately feel that you will be accepted even if you just started with the sport a week or two ago. It's a beautiful thing to see people so enthusiastic about pulling a piece of string back and hearing that familiar thud once your arrow hit the center of the target. It gives you a sense of fulfillment to know that you're worthy enough to call yourself an archer.
